Hernando County

Hernando County

Our shop is at 1160 Ponce De Leon Blvd in Brooksville, so Brooksville doesn't have a separate town page. The home page covers it.

Houses have gone up on the 1967 Deltona plat ever since it was laid out, so the year yours was built decides what we check first.

In 2024, Helene's evacuation order covered everything west of US 19. What to switch off before you leave, and what to check before power comes back on.

More than a quarter of the homes are attached villas, so the work stays with your unit's own panel, meter, and circuits.

Three of every four homes are manufactured homes. The page covers the meter post, feeder, and riser that serve each one.

Built out between 1987 and 2020, this Spring Hill subdivision can have panels decades apart on the same street.

Developed between 1959 and 1965 around deep canals that run straight to the Gulf: dock, boat-lift, and shore-power circuits over salt water.

The Withlacoochee River kept rising for days after Milton in October 2024. The page covers what weeks of river water leave at the meter base, the riser, and the lowest outlets.

Census data can't date one house. We read the panel label, the breaker brand, and the wiring to learn how old the electrical is.

Citrus County

Idalia's flooding in 2023, then Helene's record surge in 2024. Rewiring while flood-cut walls are still open.

During Helene, Halls River Road flooded several miles from the Homosassa River. Ground-level outdoor equipment on homes that aren't on the water, with Homosassa Springs covered on the same page.

Village property owners' associations set their own exterior rules that cover outdoor lighting, generator inlets, EV chargers, and work at the meter.

About a quarter of the homes are in buildings with two or more units: meter banks, shared equipment, and work inside a single unit.

Platted for more than 34,000 homesites, with 4,445 housing units counted in 2020. Building on an empty lot means new-construction wiring and temporary power.

The 2020 census counted it as entirely rural. Long runs from the house to a barn, a well pump, or a workshop.

This Hernando is a town in Citrus County, separate from Hernando County. Nearly one housing unit in five stood vacant at the 2020 census; reopening a closed-up house is the focus.

Small houses, most with two bedrooms, that started with few circuits and have taken on dishwashers, dryers, and central air since. Where those loads ended up, and how much room the panel has left.

An equestrian community where recorded deed restrictions cap the barns, garages, and sheds on each lot by acreage. Everyone who gets power draws on the same house service.

Rules differ from one property owners' association to the next, and some name the lamp color, the wattage, or a street-side post lamp that must stay lit. An address here can read Hernando.

County offices, a college campus, and the part of County Road 491 the local paper calls the medical corridor are all here. Clinic build-outs, work in buildings that stay open, and county limits on site lighting.

Pasco County

Pasco County

Helene's surge swamped Hudson's sea-level canal lots in 2024: flooded equipment, the riser and meter, and dock circuits.

Half the homes were built before 1980. Three findings we look for at that age: no GFCI protection, no service disconnect, and no smoke detectors.

It borders Spring Hill on the county line, so your permit is issued by Pasco County.

The median build year here is 2006, so the page centers on additions: EV chargers, lighting, and new circuits.

The City of Zephyrhills sets its own permit rules inside city limits. The Zephyrhills North, South, and West areas go through Pasco County.

Tampa Electric territory, where Milton's winds in 2024 took down poles and feeder lines. Which side of the meter is the utility's, and which is yours.

Dade City's name, but outside its city limits, so Pasco County issues the permits. How to check which side of the line your address is on.

Homes here have a 1996 median build year: panels about 30 years old meeting new loads like EV chargers, mini-splits, and tankless water heaters.

The oldest median build year on this list: 1970. Wiring from before the late 1970s and original-era panels come first.

A lake lot can put a well pump circuit and dock or boat lift power out in the yard. The page covers that outdoor wiring and what creek flooding reaches first.

Most houses here date from the 1970s and 1980s. The page covers the parts a panel change leaves in place: the meter base, the service cable, and the ground-rod connection.

Flooded wiring is replaced under a permit, a Florida Building Code rule the city spells out for residents. Also covers Jasmine Estates, outside the city limits.

Building began in 1990, and the page takes the houses a decade at a time: worn breakers and outlets, switch boxes without a neutral for smart switches, and smoke alarms reaching 10 years.

The Odessa mailing name is used in two counties. We take jobs on the Pasco County side, Starkey Ranch and Asturia included, and outdoor lighting under Starkey Ranch's rules gets its own section.

Sumter County

Sumter County

The city runs its own electric utility and requires a separate meter for every unit, including mobile homes. New service is set up with the City of Bushnell.

An unincorporated crossroads with no census figures of its own. The page explains how a first visit works.

Tarrytown and Lacoochee are two places where we want more work. If your home or business is in either, call the office, and we'll set up a visit.

Permits and power companies

Who Issues Your Permit

Outside city limits, the county building office issues electrical permits: the Hernando County Building Division, the Citrus County Building Division, Pasco County Building Construction Services, or Sumter County Building Services, which has also handled permits inside Bushnell since April 1, 2025. Crystal River, Inverness, New Port Richey, Zephyrhills, and Dade City issue their own permits inside city limits, and Dade City's department also issues them for San Antonio. We pull the permit a job needs from one of those offices.

Which utility serves you

Duke Energy, Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative (WREC), Tampa Electric, and SECO Energy each serve parts of these four counties, and the street address decides which one is yours. The places we've confirmed: Duke Energy inside New Port Richey, Tampa Electric in the Dade City area, Duke mainly in the Zephyrhills area, and the City of Bushnell's own electric division for addresses in Bushnell. Your power bill names your utility.
