In Homosassa, Helene's floodwater came up Halls River Road, several miles from the Homosassa River.
We work in Homosassa and in Homosassa Springs. After high water, the low, outdoor side of a house is the side to have checked first.
Call (352) 251-2795, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or send a request online. Calls after hours are returned the next business day.
List what sits low outside: AC, pool equipment, outlets, or a generator inlet.
Local conditions
Water Where Homosassa Didn't Expect It
Homosassa spreads along both sides of the Homosassa River, and Helene's 8-foot surge reached it. The water didn't stop at the riverbank; it reached streets well back from it.
Dry rooms, wet equipment
One Homosassa homeowner told FOX 13, "Our house was 11 feet high, and it came to within inches of overcoming." Height keeps the rooms dry, whether the house is raised or sits high on its lot. It doesn't lift the AC condenser and its disconnect, the pool pump and timer, the outdoor outlets, a landscape lighting transformer, or the circuit to a shed, and those sit right where the water goes.
- Don't turn those circuits back on until the equipment has been checked.
- Don't reset a breaker or a GFCI on a circuit the water reached.
Before the next high water
An outdoor outlet or a generator inlet mounted low can be moved higher on the wall or onto a post, which is ordinary outlet work. It also helps to have the outdoor circuits labeled in the panel, so you can switch off exactly those when water is on its way.

Service work at a mobile home
We repair and replace the meter post or pedestal beside a mobile home, the meter base on it, and the feeder that carries power to the home. When an older home is replaced with a new one, we install the new service for it. About half the homes in Homosassa Springs are mobile homes, by census estimates. The post and meter base sit outside near ground level, which puts them on the list to check anywhere Debby's or Helene's water came around a home.

Homosassa Services After Debby and Helene
Landscape lighting under river mud
When Hurricane Debby pushed the Homosassa River over its banks in August 2024, the Citrus County Chronicle reported dark, slick mud left across Homosassa's low-lying areas. In-ground fixtures and the buried cable between them sit under a layer like that, so a lighting system there gets checked from the transformer out before it's switched back on.
Shops and restaurants on West Yulee Drive
Parts of West Yulee Drive in Old Homosassa were still under water the day after Debby, and Helene's surge came less than two months later. A business there may have had its outlets and equipment circuits wet twice in one season, and each round calls for its own check before the power goes back on.

The pool pump won't start after the flood. Can I just reset its breaker?
The AC runs, but the disconnect box outside was under water. Is that a problem?
A remediation crew is tearing out our wet drywall. Does that part need a permit?
Does it matter which power company is on my Homosassa bill?

Permits
Permits for Flood Repairs in Unincorporated Citrus County
Citrus County issues the permits in Homosassa, and after high water, its rules reach further than usual. The county requires a permit for any construction or repair in the special flood hazard area, whether or not the house carries flood insurance. Replacing drywall or cabinets normally needs no permit, but it does when the damage came from a flood.
On a storm-damage repair permit, each contractor fixing electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or building damage has to sign on when the lead contractor isn't licensed for it, and the county lists a final electrical inspection among the inspections that close it out.
Booking and billing
Booking a Visit in Homosassa
Our office staff takes the call and asks what's out and where.
Repair and troubleshooting visits are billed by the hour from arrival: $100 residential, $150 commercial, one-hour minimum, then half-hour increments, plus materials. No trip charge and no service fee. No hidden fees: the 3.5% surcharge on card and ACH payments is listed in our terms.
We don't do upfront pricing. No job has a standard price with us: each one is tailored to the property and the work you've asked for, and priced once we've seen it.
We offer free estimates on installs, upgrades, and replacements in our service area. Estimates aren't free when the job needs troubleshooting or testing to price, falls after hours or outside our service area, needs several meetings to gather information, or is new construction or a custom remodel with multi-party walk-throughs. For most jobs, estimates arrive by email by the end of the next business day, and quotes are good for 30 days.
Custom homes and large or multi-phase projects are estimated as soon as we can, or on the timeline your project sets.
