- Swapped, added, or planned from scratch: One fixture or a whole house.
- Licensed & Insured: Florida Certified Electrical Contractor EC13011268.
A new dining-room fixture and a ceiling box that looks too small for it. A bathroom that still has the builder's light bar. A hallway or closet that has never had a light.
Bring the fixture you picked, as long as it's listed by UL or ETL. We check the box, the wiring, and the switch behind it.
Call (352) 251-2795, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or send a request online. Calls after hours are returned the next business day.
Three kinds of Lighting jobs
Swap, Add, or Specialty
Swapping a fixture on an existing box
The simplest job: an old fixture comes down, and a new one goes up on the same box and wiring. The work is in the details, such as a box that isn't rated for the new fixture's weight, a crumbling old wire connection, or a dimmer that won't pair with LED lamps.
- Ceiling lights, pendants, flush mounts, and wall sconces.
- Old connections in the box are remade where they've degraded.
Adding light where there was none
A new fixture in a room that never had one means a new box, a new cable, and a switch. Where there's attic access, the cable is fished down from the attic; where there isn't, the route requires more planning.
- Hallways, closets, laundry rooms, and walk-in pantries.
- A new switch where you'll actually reach for it.
Specialty and accent lighting
- Bathroom vanity lights sized to the mirror and placed to light faces.
- Track lighting to aim light at art, a kitchen, or a work area.
- Stair lighting and step lights for safe footing at night.
- Closet lights that come on with the door or a switch.
- Lighting for a home-theater room: sconces, step lights, and dimming.

How Lighting Is Priced
How Lighting Work Is Priced
We don't do upfront pricing. No job has a standard price with us: each one is tailored to the property and the work you've asked for, and priced once we've seen it.
We offer free estimates on installs, upgrades, and replacements in our service area. Estimates aren't free when the job needs troubleshooting or testing to price, falls after hours or outside our service area, needs several meetings to gather information, or is new construction or a custom remodel with multi-party walk-throughs. For most jobs, estimates arrive by email by the end of the next business day, and quotes are good for 30 days.
Custom homes and large or multi-phase projects are estimated as soon as we can, or on the timeline your project sets.
- The type of fixture and its weight.
- Attic access above the ceiling.
- How many dimmers the job needs.
Our warranty
03If something we installed fails because of our workmanship within 30 days of completion, we waive the hourly labor to put it right. Materials Kennedy Electric purchases for your job carry the manufacturer's one-year warranty. To replace defective materials we supplied, or materials damaged by storm, flood, fire, or other acts of God, we charge a reduced warranty labor rate of $50 an hour residential and $75 an hour commercial. The warranty does not cover materials not purchased by Kennedy Electric, work performed by the customer, or materials the customer purchased or damaged. Our warranty terms are printed on the estimate, the invoice, and the receipt, and the product boxes stay with you so you can register each product with its manufacturer.
