- Level 2 at home: A 240-volt circuit sized to your charger.
- Outlet or hardwired: A 14-50 outlet or a hardwired wall connector; we explain both.
- Load management if it's tight: The charger shares capacity with the house.
- Brands you choose: Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint, Emporia, or the charger you bought.
- Licensed & Insured: Florida Certified Electrical Contractor EC13011268.
An EV on a regular outlet charges slowly. A Level 2 charger at home fixes that, and the first decision is a 14-50 outlet or a hardwired wall unit.
Installs start with our estimator, who checks whether your panel can carry a charger.
Call (352) 251-2795, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or send a request online. Calls after hours are returned the next business day.
Three Decisions
Three Decisions Before a Charger Goes on the Wall
1. A 14-50 outlet or a hardwired charger
Both are good options, and the difference is portability against speed. A NEMA 14-50 outlet on a 50-amp circuit lets you plug in a portable charger and take it with you. A hardwired charger can be installed on a circuit rated up to 60 amps and charges faster if your car can handle the extra current, but it stays with the wall.
- A charger can draw at most 80% of its circuit's rating continuously: 40 amps on a 50-amp circuit, 48 amps on a 60-amp circuit.
- A 14-50 outlet suits a portable charger you want to take with you if you move.
- A hardwired charger suits the fastest home charging and a cleaner installation.
- Either way, the circuit is dedicated to the charger.
2. Where it goes
The distance between the panel and the charger determines the job. The estimator walks the garage or driveway with you, looks at where the car parks and where the cable reaches, and plans the shortest sensible run.
- Inside the garage near the panel is the simplest.
- An outdoor or driveway location needs a charger rated for outdoor use.
- A detached garage or carport may need a longer run or a subpanel.
3. Whether the panel can carry it
Load capacity determines whether a panel upgrade is needed, and it's set in the estimate. If capacity is tight, there are two routes.
- A load-management device, which lets the charger share capacity with the rest of the house.
- A panel or service upgrade, where the house needs the capacity anyway.
- The estimate shows which route fits your panel.

How EV installs are Priced
How EV Charger Installation Is Priced
We don't do upfront pricing. No job has a standard price with us: each one is tailored to the property and the work you've asked for, and priced once we've seen it.
We offer free estimates on installs, upgrades, and replacements in our service area. Estimates aren't free when the job needs troubleshooting or testing to price, falls after hours or outside our service area, needs several meetings to gather information, or is new construction or a custom remodel with multi-party walk-throughs. For most jobs, estimates arrive by email by the end of the next business day, and quotes are good for 30 days.
Custom homes and large or multi-phase projects are estimated as soon as we can, or on the timeline your project sets.
What changes the price
03- The distance from the panel to the charger.
- Whether a load-management device is added.
- A panel upgrade, if the load calculation calls for one.
Our warranty
04If something we installed fails because of our workmanship within 30 days of completion, we waive the hourly labor to put it right. Materials Kennedy Electric purchases for your job carry the manufacturer's one-year warranty. To replace defective materials we supplied, or materials damaged by storm, flood, fire, or other acts of God, we charge a reduced warranty labor rate of $50 an hour residential and $75 an hour commercial. The warranty does not cover materials not purchased by Kennedy Electric, work performed by the customer, or materials the customer purchased or damaged. Our warranty terms are printed on the estimate, the invoice, and the receipt, and the product boxes stay with you so you can register each product with its manufacturer.
