The thermostat is calling, the air handler in the closet is silent, and the house keeps drifting away from the setting. In Spring Hill, where nearly every home heats with electricity, the first question is an electrical one: is power reaching the equipment?

Call (352) 251-2795, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or send a request online. Calls after hours are returned the next business day.

An all-electric town

When the Air Handler Goes Quiet in Spring Hill

A no-heat call here has no gas valve or pilot to rule out first. Of Spring Hill's 45,571 occupied homes, 43,269, about 95%, heat with electricity. That heat comes from a heat pump or from heating elements inside the air handler, and cooling runs through the same air handler, so both depend on the circuits that feed it and the unit outside.

01

Power at the equipment, or not

The outdoor unit and the air handler each draw power through a breaker in your panel, and the outdoor unit also has a disconnect on the wall beside it. We test for voltage at each point, at rest and with the system trying to run, and look at the breaker, its connections in the panel, and the wiring into the disconnect.

02

Where our part ends

If full power reaches the equipment and it still won't run, the fault is inside it: a motor, a capacitor, a control board, or the thermostat. That is work for your HVAC contractor, and we tell you what we measured so they don't have to start from scratch.

Septic-to-sewer digging

Sewer Lines Going In Across Spring Hill Yards

Hernando County is moving part of Spring Hill from septic tanks to a central sewer system, starting with District A, between Cortez Boulevard and Elgin Boulevard, east of US 19. Its first phase covers about 388 homes and businesses. In its September 2026 project update, the county expected one section, Sewer Shed 2, to go into service within about six weeks, with house connections there to follow over about four months.

Each connection runs a new sewer pipe from the house to a cleanout at the right-of-way, so the trench crosses the yard. Sunshine 811, the call-before-you-dig center, has the utilities mark their own lines. The cables you own past the meter, such as power to a shed or a detached garage, or landscape lighting, aren't in its database.

A yard circuit that quits after the digging

A cable nicked by a shovel or trencher can keep working until the ground is wet, then trip its breaker or GFCI, or go dead. If an outdoor outlet, a yard light, or a shed lost power after the sewer work, tell us where the trench ran, since the likeliest damage is where the circuit's cable crosses it. If you can see a cut cable in the trench, keep everyone away from it and switch that circuit off at the panel, if the panel is dry.

Spring Hill Troubleshooting FAQ

Heating and Cooling Calls We Sort Out

The HVAC company says the problem is electrical. What does that mean for us?

It can mean they found no power, or low voltage, at the equipment. Ask them what they measured and where, and pass it on when you call. We start at the panel and work toward the unit.

The heat smells like it's burning when we first turn it on. Is that electrical?

Dust on heating elements can give off a smell the first time electric heat runs after months off. A smell that doesn't fade, any smoke, or a tripped breaker is different: switch the system off at the thermostat, call 911 if there is smoke or fire, and then call us.

The heat pump was just replaced, and now its breaker trips.

A replacement unit's nameplate lists the breaker size and the circuit capacity it needs, and those can differ from the old unit's. We check the existing breaker and wire against the new nameplate and correct the circuit if it doesn't match.
