Electrical Panel Upgrades in Bayonet Point, FL
Filed With Pasco, Inspected, Then Switched Back On|Licensed & Insured, EC13011268
In Bayonet Point, a larger panel or a new service is county permit work from the first page of the application to the final inspection. Kennedy Electric installs bigger panels and service upgrades matched to the house's load, and the paperwork goes in the order Pasco County lays it out.
Say what's being added, or who asked for the upgrade.
If the panel smells of burning or a breaker keeps tripping, stop using that circuit until it's checked. For smoke or sparks, call 911.
Call (352) 251-2795, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or send a request online. Calls after hours are returned the next business day.

What Pasco Asks Before a Panel Changes
A panel or service change in Bayonet Point requires a county permit at any price, since Pasco's small-job exemption for single-family owners excludes electrical work. Nearly every occupied home in Bayonet Point heats with electricity, about 10,700 of roughly 11,200 by census estimates, with only about 200 on utility gas. The heat rides on the same service as everything else, so a larger panel is sized on the whole house's load, and the heat is counted in that load from the start.
Who files changes the paperwork. A homeowner who applies alone has one more form to sign, and on a Kennedy Electric job we file it through the request for inspection. Beacon Woods' architectural guidelines run a 60-day completion window from the date a county permit is issued, so where architectural review applies, the permit date starts that clock too.
How it runs
The Application, Line by Line
-
1
Names as the deed reads them
Send the owner's name and mailing address exactly as they read on the deed, with a picture of the panel's label and one of the meter. An application missing complete owner information is one of the common reasons Pasco turns one back. If an insurer or a buyer's inspection asked for the upgrade, include that page too.
-
2
A plan with dimensions
The application includes an electrical plan, including a schematic showing where each fixture, switch, outlet, and cable run is located. Plans without dimensions are another common reason for a return, so the plan carries them. On a panel upgrade, the panel and any circuit added for new equipment sit at the center of that drawing.
-
3
Where the equipment goes on record
When the work replaces equipment, the county wants that equipment's location documented, so the plan marks the wall where the panel hangs today, inside or out. If the panel or meter is moving, its new spot goes on that record too, with dimensions like the rest of the plan.
-
4
Shut-off, inspection, release
The disconnect is set with whichever utility supplies the address. The new panel goes in, each circuit is landed and labeled, and the county inspection is booked by us. The power comes back once the release is issued, so someone at the house needs to give the inspector access. The breaker directory is filled in before the inspector arrives, so each label matches the circuit it feeds.

What we cover
What the Plan for an Upgrade Shows
What's outside the box: Grounding or bonding corrections where the existing system needs them, quoted as found.
Where the panel sits: Inside the house, in the garage, or mounted outside, and whether it stays put or moves under the permit.
A subpanel, when the main is sound: If the service has room and the new load sits far from the main panel, at a pool behind the house or a garage on the far side, a subpanel close to that load may fit the job better than a new main.
What it's rated for: A larger panel in the same service, or a service upgrade when the load calculation shows the house has outgrown its current service.
What's added at the panel: A surge protective device, since Florida's code requires that device whenever home service equipment is replaced.
The circuits it feeds: Every existing circuit moved onto a breaker the new box is listed for, including the heating circuits, plus room for what's being added.
Pricing
What Goes Into an Upgrade Quote
We don't do upfront pricing. No job has a standard price with us: each one is tailored to the property and the work you've asked for, and priced once we've seen it.
We offer free estimates on installations, upgrades, and replacements in our service area. Estimates aren't free when the job needs troubleshooting or testing to price, falls after hours or outside our service area, needs several meetings to gather information, or is new construction or a custom remodel with multi-party walk-throughs. For most jobs, estimates arrive by email by the end of the next business day, and quotes are good for 30 days.
Our warranty
02If something we installed fails because of our workmanship within 30 days of completion, we waive the hourly labor to put it right. Materials Kennedy Electric purchases for your job carry the manufacturer's one-year warranty. To replace defective materials we supplied, or materials damaged by storm, flood, fire, or other acts of God, we charge a reduced warranty labor rate of $50 an hour residential and $75 an hour commercial. The warranty does not cover materials not purchased by Kennedy Electric, work performed by the customer, or materials the customer purchased or damaged. Our warranty terms are printed on the estimate, the invoice, and the receipt, and the product boxes stay with you so you can register each product with its manufacturer.
