Kitchen remodel rough-in wiring by Kennedy Electric at a home in Hernando County, FL.

The cabinets are picked, and the tile is on order. Before the walls close, the wiring has to match the new room: outlets where the counters will be, light where you'll work, and circuits for appliances the old kitchen didn't have.

We wire kitchen, bathroom, and addition remodels, working from your plans or helping shape the lighting and outlet layout, and checking that the panel can handle the load added by the new space.

Call (352) 251-2795, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or send a request online. Calls after hours are returned the next business day.

Wiring a remodel

Wiring a Room That's Being Rebuilt

01

Decide the layout while it's still easy to change

An outlet, a switch, or a light fixture is easy to move on a plan but hard to move once the drywall and tile are up. Homeowners who come in knowing how they'll use the room, where the coffee maker lives, and which side of the vanity gets the hair dryer make that plan better. When you want help with it, we put together a design concept for the lighting and outlet placement.

02

Keeping everyone talking

A remodel runs on steady communication between the customer, the contractor, and the suppliers, so a fixture choice or a moved cabinet reaches the electrician before rough-in.

How Remodel wiring is done

Where the Electrician Fits in a Remodel

  1. 1

    1. Call while the layout is on paper

Our office sets up a visit with the estimator before the plan is locked.

  2. 2

    2. The walk-through

Roger Daugherty, our estimator, walks the rooms with you. The layout, the fixtures you've picked, and the panel are all on the table.

  3. 3

    3. The estimate

Priced from the walk-through: circuits, devices, lighting, and panel work if the load needs it.

  4. 4

    4. Rough-in

Boxes are set, and wire is run to each new location before insulation and drywall go up.

  5. 5

    5. Trim-out after the finishes

Once paint and tile are done, the devices, fixtures, and cover plates go in, and the new circuits are turned on.

Estimates

Estimates for Remodel Wiring

01

We don't do upfront pricing. No job has a standard price with us: each one is tailored to the property and the work you've asked for, and priced once we've seen it.

We offer free estimates on installations, upgrades, and replacements in our service area. Estimates aren't free when the job needs troubleshooting or testing to price, falls after hours or outside our service area, needs several meetings to gather information, or is new construction or a custom remodel with multi-party walk-throughs. For most jobs, estimates arrive by email by the end of the next business day, and quotes are good for 30 days.

02

Custom homes and large or multi-phase projects are estimated as soon as we can, or on the timeline your project sets.

Community and building department rules

03

Requirements your community or the building department sets for the project are part of the estimate.

Our warranty

04

If something we installed fails because of our workmanship within 30 days of completion, we waive the hourly labor to put it right. Materials Kennedy Electric purchases for your job carry the manufacturer's one-year warranty. To replace defective materials we supplied, or materials damaged by storm, flood, fire, or other acts of God, we charge a reduced warranty labor rate of $50 an hour residential and $75 an hour commercial. The warranty does not cover materials not purchased by Kennedy Electric, work performed by the customer, or materials the customer purchased or damaged. Our warranty terms are printed on the estimate, the invoice, and the receipt, and the product boxes stay with you so you can register each product with its manufacturer.

Real customer stories

An Estimate Walk-Through With Roger

Listened, explained, and raised things we hadn't thought of

“Could not have asked for more polite gentleman to come to our home for an estimate. Roger took the time to listen to us regarding what work we were looking to have done. We may have thrown a lot at him all at once but he dug through it all and explained it to us in easy detail. He also brought things to our attention we hadn’t thought of. We have used your company before and were completely satisfied. We are awaiting our estimate but are committed to continuing our business with you.”
