Whole-Home Rewiring in Brooksville, FL
Room by Room, or During Your Remodel|Older Homes|Licensed & Insured, EC13011268
Include the year the house was built and the rooms that bother you most.
- Your order of rooms: The worst rooms first, or the ones you're remodeling.
- Licensed & Insured: Florida Certified Electrical Contractor EC13011268.
The bedrooms still have two-prong outlets, the kitchen breaker gives up when the toaster and the coffee maker run together, and the wiring is older than anyone living in the house. At some point, patching stops making sense.
A rewire replaces the old cable, boxes, and devices with new copper wiring. We do it room by room, so the house stays livable, or alongside a remodel you're already planning.
Call (352) 251-2795, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or send a request online. Calls after hours are returned the next business day.
When and what
When Old Wiring Has Run Its Course
Signs the wiring has aged out
- Cloth- or rubber-insulated cable that cracks or crumbles when it's moved, found in homes built in the 1950s and before.
- Circuits laid out for a house with a few lamps, now asked to carry a modern kitchen, a home office, and window units.
- Splices and add-ons from decades of do-it-yourself work, with no one sure what feeds what.
- Warm switch plates, a burning smell, or scorch marks at an outlet. Those call for a repair visit now, whatever the plan for the rest of the house. Switch that circuit off until then. Call 911 if there is smoke, sparks, or fire.
What a rewire takes out and puts in
New cable runs from the panel to each outlet, switch, and light in the rooms being done. To get it there, the old devices and fixtures are removed, and some drywall is removed where a wire can't be fished down from the attic. Old cable left in the wall is disconnected.
Two-prong outlets: a stopgap and a fix
Swapping a two-prong outlet for a three-prong one with no ground wire behind it gives you a ground pin that isn't grounded. The code allows a GFCI outlet there, labeled "No equipment ground," as a stopgap. A rewire brings a ground wire to each outlet in the rooms it covers.
If the wiring is aluminum
Aluminum branch wiring installed before the late 1970s may need only a repair, not a rewire.
How a Rewire Unfolds
How a Rewire Unfolds
-
1
1. A walk-through with the estimator
We count the outlets, switches, and fixtures, look at the attic and the panel, and ask which rooms matter most to you.
-
2
2. The order of rooms
The estimate sets the order of rooms and what's replaced in each. If the panel needs replacing too, it's part of the same plan.
-
3
3. One room or area at a time
That room's circuits are switched off, the devices and fixtures come off, drywall is opened where needed, and new cable is pulled.
-
4
4. New devices, fixtures back up
New boxes, outlets, and switches go in, and your fixtures go back up, or new ones you've chosen, as long as they're UL or ETL listed.
-
5
5. Tested and handed back
Each circuit is tested before the room is handed back, and we go over the finished work with you.

| On its own | Alongside a remodel | |
|---|---|---|
| When it fits | You're living in the house and want the work spread out | Walls or ceilings are already open |
| Drywall | Opened where the new cable needs a path | Largely open already for the remodel |
| Order of work | The rooms you choose, in the order you choose | Set by the remodel's schedule |
| What's replaced | Cable, boxes, outlets, switches, fixture connections | The same, plus any new layout |
Pricing
Pricing a Rewire
We don't do upfront pricing. No job has a standard price with us: each one is tailored to the property and the work you've asked for, and priced once we've seen it.
We offer free estimates on installs, upgrades, and replacements in our service area. Estimates aren't free when the job needs troubleshooting or testing to price, falls after hours or outside our service area, needs several meetings to gather information, or is new construction or a custom remodel with multi-party walk-throughs. For most jobs, estimates arrive by email by the end of the next business day, and quotes are good for 30 days.
Custom homes and large or multi-phase projects are estimated as soon as we can, or on the timeline your project sets.
The size of the plan
03The estimate reflects the number of rooms in the plan and the number of outlets, switches, and fixtures they contain.
Our warranty
04If something we installed fails because of our workmanship within 30 days of completion, we waive the hourly labor to put it right. Materials Kennedy Electric purchases for your job carry the manufacturer's one-year warranty. To replace defective materials we supplied, or materials damaged by storm, flood, fire, or other acts of God, we charge a reduced warranty labor rate of $50 an hour residential and $75 an hour commercial. The warranty does not cover materials not purchased by Kennedy Electric, work performed by the customer, or materials the customer purchased or damaged. Our warranty terms are printed on the estimate, the invoice, and the receipt, and the product boxes stay with you so you can register each product with its manufacturer.
