Maker's label inside the door of an older breaker panel.

A house built in Hudson in the 1970s went up while Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels were still being made. For the 2,230 Hudson homes from that decade, the first step toward a new panel is reading the maker's name inside the panel door.

The Post Box and the Home Panel at a Mobile Home

At a Hudson mobile home with its meter on a post or pedestal, there are two boxes to check: the equipment on the post and the panel inside the home. A newer panel inside says nothing about the box on the post, and a replaced post says nothing about the panel inside, so both labels count.

BoxTaking it out for the replacement
Equipment on the postIts main breaker is the home's service disconnect, so the service is cut at the meter for the swap. We arrange that with your power company.
Panel inside the homeIt's fed from the post, so switching off the main breaker there takes the power off this panel. The service at the meter can stay connected.

Estimates

Putting a Number on a Hudson Panel Change

01

We don't do upfront pricing. No job has a standard price with us: each one is tailored to the property and the work you've asked for, and priced once we've seen it.

We offer free estimates on installations, upgrades, and replacements in our service area. Estimates aren't free when the job needs troubleshooting or testing to price, falls after hours or outside our service area, needs several meetings to gather information, or is new construction or a custom remodel with multi-party walk-throughs. For most jobs, estimates arrive by email by the end of the next business day, and quotes are good for 30 days.

02

Custom homes and large or multi-phase projects are estimated as soon as we can, or on the timeline your project sets.

Labor and parts after the job

03

If something we installed fails because of our workmanship within 30 days of completion, we waive the hourly labor to put it right. Materials Kennedy Electric purchases for your job carry the manufacturer's one-year warranty. To replace defective materials we supplied, or materials damaged by storm, flood, fire, or other acts of God, we charge a reduced warranty labor rate of $50 an hour residential and $75 an hour commercial. The warranty does not cover materials not purchased by Kennedy Electric, work performed by the customer, or materials the customer purchased or damaged. Our warranty terms are printed on the estimate, the invoice, and the receipt, and the product boxes stay with you so you can register each product with its manufacturer.

Frequently asked questions

If One of These Names Is in Your Hudson Home

Can the old panel stay on as a subpanel under a new main?

It can be wired that way, but the same enclosure and breakers stay in service, so the brand is still in the house. The estimate prices replacing it.

Where is the label on the post?

On the enclosure, inside the door over the main breaker if it has one. Leave that box closed; the estimator reads its label at the visit. The label to read yourself is the one inside the panel door at home.

Do both boxes have to be replaced at the same visit?

No. One can be replaced now and the other later.
